The SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 is live for the Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Computer Based Examination. On 23 September 2026, the Staff Selection Commission published the tentative keys along with candidates' response sheets through an official notice.
If you wrote the exam, sign in at the SSC website with your Registration Number and Password. Save the response sheet the moment it loads. SSC has stated plainly: the sheet will not stay up after the notified period, and later individual requests get no response.
The objection window runs from 23 September 2026 at 11:00 PM to 26 September 2026 at 11:00 PM. A challenge costs Rs 50 per question or answer. Late representations are not accepted.
The SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 remains tentative at this stage. Use it to check your recorded responses and estimate your raw CBE score. If you spot a genuine answer-key issue, file the challenge before the deadline.
SSC released the tentative key and the candidate response sheet together. This is not the final answer key.

You can reach the response sheet through your SSC account.
Open ssc.gov.in.
Go to the candidate login.
Enter your Registration Number and Password.
Find the Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2026 answer-key or challenge facility.
Open the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 and your response sheet.
Save or print the sheet before the notified access period ends.
Check the exam details on the page before calculating marks. If the question order looks different from what you remember, match the full question and options rather than relying on the question number alone.
The response sheet records the options you selected in the CBE. The tentative key shows the answers currently accepted by SSC. Putting the two together lets you see where your response matches or differs.
One part of the challenge portal can be confusing. SSC says the order of questions and options in the challenge module may differ from the order you saw in the examination.
During the CBE, different candidates could receive questions and options in different sequences. The challenge module uses a common sequence for candidates from the same shift.
Your recorded selections should still be shown accurately. So, if question numbering looks unfamiliar, first compare the actual question text and its options.
SSC also says a saved copy of the question paper is for personal use and self-analysis only. The challenge portal includes an undertaking on this point.
This is an important check while reviewing the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026. A different sequence does not automatically mean your response sheet is incorrect.
The official 2026 CBE scheme has 200 questions for 200 marks. General Intelligence and Reasoning has 50 questions, General Awareness has 50, and English Language and Comprehension has 100.

Part | Subject | Questions | Marks | Sectional time |
I | General Intelligence and Reasoning | 50 | 50 | 30 minutes |
II | General Awareness | 50 | 50 | 30 minutes |
III | English Language and Comprehension | 100 | 100 | 60 minutes |
Total | 200 | 200 | 2 hours |
SSC deducts 0.25 mark for every wrong answer in the CBE. That makes the raw-score calculation straightforward once you have the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 and your response sheet.
Estimated raw score = Correct answers x 1 - Wrong answers x 0.25
Suppose your response sheet shows 152 correct answers, 32 wrong answers and 16 unattempted questions.
Correct-answer marks: 152
Negative marks: 32 x 0.25 = 8
Estimated raw score: 152 - 8 = 144 marks
Treat this as an estimate, not your final SSC score. The official notice states that scores from a multi-shift CBE are normalized under SSC's published normalization procedure. Your raw total from the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 can therefore differ from the normalized score used for merit and cutoffs.

SSC's 2026 notice sets these minimum qualifying marks for the CBE:
Category | Minimum qualifying marks |
UR | 30% |
OBC/EWS | 25% |
All other categories | 20% |
These percentages are qualifying thresholds. They are not the final shortlist cutoff. SSC shortlists candidates for the skill test using CBE marks and the applicable selection rules, so the actual cutoff can be higher.
Use the online challenge module if you find a tentative answer that you believe is incorrect. The SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 objection facility closes at 11:00 PM on 26 September 2026.
Log in to your SSC account and open the Stenographer answer-key challenge module.
Match the disputed question with its full text and answer options.
Select the question or answer you want to challenge.
Follow the portal instructions for the representation and any supporting material it asks for.
Pay Rs 50 for each question or answer challenged.
Submit the representation before the deadline.
Save the payment and submission confirmation.
The 2026 examination notice says representations about tentative answer keys must be submitted through the online process within the time allowed by SSC. Representations sent by letter, application, email or another mode are not entertained.
Check the question carefully before paying. The SSC steno 2026 answer key challenge module can display a standardized question sequence, so a changed question number alone is not a reason to object.
SSC Stenographer Exam Analysis 2026 from Your Response Sheet
A useful SSC Stenographer exam analysis starts with your own answers. It does not need a vague label such as "easy shift" or "hard shift".
First, calculate section-wise accuracy. Separate correct and wrong responses for Reasoning, General Awareness and English.
A section where you attempted many questions but lost accuracy can have a bigger effect on the score than a section where you attempted less.
Next, measure the cost of negative marking. Four wrong answers reduce the raw score by one mark. Across a 200-question paper, repeated guessing can add up.
Then make a short list of questions that deserve a genuine review. Keep them separate from questions you missed because of a concept gap, a reading mistake or rushed elimination.
The SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 is useful here because it lets you separate a possible key issue from an ordinary exam mistake.
That SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 review also tells you what to fix for future exams. You may find that most lost marks came from General Awareness gaps, English accuracy, reasoning errors or avoidable guesses.
Tentative Answer Key Vs Final Answer Key
The current SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026 is tentative. SSC considers representations submitted during the objection window before finalizing the answers.
The 2026 examination notice says experts scrutinize representations concerning the tentative keys. SSC's decision on the final answers is final. The final answer keys are then used to process the CBE result and are uploaded after declaration of that result.
Your estimated raw score may therefore change if SSC accepts a valid challenge and revises an answer. Until then, call it an estimate.
The 23 September tentative-answer-key notice does not announce a result date or a scorecard-access date. Any third-party date should be treated as an estimate unless SSC publishes it officially.
What Happens After the SSC Stenographer Answer Key
After the challenge period, SSC reviews the objections and proceeds with the CBE result process using the final answers.
Candidates shortlisted from the CBE are called for the Stenography Skill Test. The test is mandatory, but it is qualifying in nature.
For the 2026 examination, SSC prescribes a 10-minute dictation at:
100 words per minute for Stenographer Grade C
80 words per minute for Stenographer Grade D
Candidates who clear the skill-test standard move forward under SSC's allocation and final-selection process.
CBE performance remains important for merit after the qualifying skill-test requirement is met.
For now, the priority is to download the SSC Stenographer Answer Key 2026, save the response sheet and submit any genuine challenge before the window closes.
