Basic Pay

Rs. 15,600

Grade Pay

Rs. 5,400

Critical Perspective: Service Conditions and Grievances

While the role is prestigious, aspirants should be aware of the long-standing criticisms regarding service conditions in the CAPFs. Various officer associations and veterans have highlighted issues such as:

  • Inequality with Military: Unlike the Army, Navy, or Air Force, CAPF officers fall under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) rather than the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), leading to debates over post-retirement security.

  • Career Progression: There have been long legal battles regarding the Organised Group 'A' Service (OGAS) status. The Supreme Court eventually granted this status, but issues regarding non-functional financial upgradation (NFFU) and parity with other civil services remain points of contention.

  • Stagnation: Many officers point to slower promotion tracks compared to the IPS or the Armed Forces due to complex cadre structures.
